A few things to remember when buying a Washing Machine
I don't know why but the first flat I bought and the second house I bought with my wife, both had slightly unusual kitchens. In the flat when we were considering replacing the old washing machine I noticed the width of the washing machine was not 60cm, which is the normal standard width for appliances. We had to find one that was 58.5cm width they are available you just have to look around.When we moved into the house, we had a different problem, that is the depth. Due to a small galley kitchen the depth of the workarea is a little bit less than normal, this translates to a washing machine that would jut out a bit, so again we needed to buy a washing machines whose depth is a little less.
So before you buy your new kitchen appliance, after you have checked its economy rating its spin speed and all the other magical gizmos, make sure to measure the width, depth and height of were the washing machine is going to fit.
