95% of users who visit my websites run on Windows, 4.8% macintosh and the rest mainly Linux.

To be honest I do not worry if the customer is using Window 98, XP, 2000 or even Vista they all work roughly the same for most of my uses.


What this means is I can run windows media player video (WMA) files and know that for most they can run without them having to download any application, of course there will be a small percentage of customers you will lose, but the time and effort in store say movies in different format is for me not worth my while.

However I do link to mp3 files rather than embed them with windows media player.

I do not care if Quicktime is better than media player all I care about is what users have already installed on their computer when they first get it and nearly all users have Windows Media Player.
